BNI Collects Penalty Payments of IDR 7.6 Trillion

Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI) received penalty payments in a tax amnesty program worth IDR 7.6 trillion and repatriation fund of IDR 780.6 billion in the period of July-September 2016. The fund will raise BBNI’s third party fund and non-interest revenue.

According to Kiryanto, Corporate Secretary of BBNI, the penalty payments of 61.000 deposit transactions from taxpayers has been submitted to the Directorate General of Taxation. The repatriation fund with as many as 49 transactions was placed on financial products of BBNI and its subsidiaries, in the form of savings, giros, deposits, as well as investment products from BNI Securities, BNI Asset Management, and BNI Life. Other than that, there are some funds that were switched from international taxpayers to local taxpayers through BBNI subsidiaries with a value of IDR 71 billion.

“Tax amnesty in stage I through BNI shows satisfactory development because many taxpayers take advantage of the tax amnesty with the lowest penalty rates of 2% from both domestic assets declared and repatriated,” said Kiryanto. The penalty rate for overseas assets declared but not repatriated in the first period has reached 4%.

Based on the financial report of BBNI, the third party fund reached IDR 354.83 as of 31 August 2016, a rise of 11.79% from IDR 317.39 trillion in August 2015. The company recorded net profit of IDR 5.72 trillion per 31 August 2016, a 29.5% increase compared to the same period last year with IDR 4.41 trillion.
In the first trading session on Wednesday (12/10), BBNI remained stagnant at IDR 5.200. (*)
