Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM) is seeking loan from banks worth at least IDR 3.5 trillion to establish ferronickel factories in East Halmahera (P3FH). A smelter with capacity of 13.500 ton nickels in ferronickel (TNi) will increase the ferronickel production capacity to 43.500 TNi per year.
Tedy Badrudjaman, President Director of ANTM, said the establishment fund was calculated according to the investment value that the company had spent for smelter line 1 with a capacity 13.500 TNi at Pomalaa, Sulawesi Tenggara. “If we do not get support from banks, we will look for strategic partners to join the establishment,” said Tedy.
The construction of ferronickel factory at Tanjung Buli, East Halmahera was previously targeted for commissioning in 2015. But, the P3FH project was delayed due to the decrease in nickel commodity prices. ANTM reopened P3FH tender and chose Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Wijaya Karya Tbk (WIKA) consortium as the tender winners.
Dimas Wikan Pramudhito, Director of Finance from ANTM, said the company will build supporting infrastructure projects like reservoir, cabins, and power plant with a capacity of 80 MW. The company will cooperate with Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) to build Thermal power station.
