Today (July 27, 2016), the President Jokowi inaugurated 14 new ministers. Some of them are new names in the cabinet hierarchy and some are old names being repositioned. Market and economic players expected these new people would produce new strength in economy; moreover, surprisingly an old name has surfaced in the stage: Sri Mulyani as Finance Minister.
Following is complete list of newly inaugurated ministers:
Finance Minister: Sri Mulyani Indrawati is replacing Bambang S. Brojonegoro.
Minister of PAN and RB: Asman Abnur is replacing Yuddy Chrisnandi.
Head of National Planning Body: Bambang S. Brojonegoro is replacing Sofyan Djalil
Minister ATR-BPN: Sofyan Djalil is replacing Ferry Mursidan Baldan.
Minister of Trade: Enggartiasto Lukito is replacing Thomas Lembong.
Minister of Industry: Airlangga Hartanto is replacing Saleh Husin
Minister of Transportation: Budi Karya Sumadi is replacing Ignatius Jonan
Minister for Rural, Rural Development and Transmigration: Eko Putro Sanjoyo is replacing Marwan Jaffar
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources: Archandra Tahar is replacing Sudirman Said
Minister of Education and Culture: Prof. Muhajir is replacing Anies Baswedan.
Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Safety: Wiranto is replacing Luhut Binsar Panjaitan.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime: Luhut Binsar Panjaitan is replacing Rizal Ramli
Head of BKPM: Thomas Lembong is replacing Franky Sibarani
Deputy Minister of Industry: Franky Sibarani
Several ministers are from political parties, including Airlangga Hartanto (Functional Group Party), Asman Abnur (National Mandate Party), Eko Putro Sanjoyo (National Awakening Party). However some come from academics, namely Prof Muhajir (Rector of Muhammadiyah University of Malang) and from business players, i.e., Dr. Archandra Tahar, M.Sc., Ph.D (President Director of Petroneering at Houston). Economy highly hopes that these new ministers are actually new power in the economics and not only giving out positions.
